  • Processes:

Consoltex Inc. is a Canadian manufacturer of specialty synthetic woven fabrics. It has four large manufacturing plants located in Quebec and Ontario employing close to 900 people. The company conducts its own R&D and maintains its own sales, marketing and distribution network throughout North America. Following Consoltex’s 1998 expansion of its textilemanufacturing facility in Cowansville, Quebec, the problem of negative air pressure in the building was identified. The solution was to increase the volume of ventilation air to the facility and preheat it with a perforated solar wallcladding and air distribution system. This low-cost solar air-preheating system was installed in the building’s extension. It allows Consoltex to draw an increased volume of air into its facility while keeping energy costs low.
