Description

Grape pomace is produced after pressing (skins, seeds and stems coming from the grapes, as well as yeast)

Valorisation techniques

  • Distillation of spirit beverages
  • Biomass (once dried) for energy production of grape pomace is up to 3500 kcal/kg (Tecnolimpia, 2009). Direct combustion is the most widely technology used however the fluidized bed combustion technology has been introduced in the last years (fuel flexibility, higher combustion efficiency, reduced emission of pollutants, reduced generation of wastes) Saidura et al., 2011).
  • Composting. The presence of polyphenols can difficult the compostimg process.
